ABOUT US

Atlanta Theatre Artists for Justice started as a small group of artists hoping to rally together at BLM protests during the New Age Civil Rights Movement. We soon found ourselves heading a 1500+ coalition of artists eager to help in the fight for equality in any way possible. We provided them with a network to share daily information on current protests, a way to donate supplies, and mobile protest support units to deliver the supplies to protesters including first aid supply. Our group also gave people who weren't able to physically be on the front lines a chance to make a difference.

GREG HUNTER (HE/HIM)

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

GREG IS AN ATLANTA BASED THEATRE ARTIST THAT HAS WORKED TO FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF WITH MANY THEATRE COMPANIES IN THE ATLANTA AREA.  YOU MAY HAVE SEEN HIM ONSTAGE, BEHIND A SPOTLIGHT, HANGING STAGE LIGHTS, OR TEACHING AT AURORA THEATRE, SYNCHRONICITY THEATRE, ACTOR’S EXPRESS, ATLANTA LYRIC THEATRE, IT THE CENTER FOR PUPPETRY ARTS. HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE TO HAVE CONVERSATIONS ABOUT IDENTITY POLITICS IN THE THEATRE COMMUNITY AND THAT IS ESPECIALLY TRUE TODAY.  AFTER RECEIVING HIS MFA FROM MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY AND RETURNING TO THE ATLANTA THEATRE SCENE, GREG HAS SEEN AND EXPERIENCED FIRST HAND, THE WAYS IN WHICH A PROCESS CAN BECOME TOXIC AND POTENTIALLY UNSAFE BECAUSE THE ARTISTS DO NOT FEEL SEEN, HEARD, OR RESPECTED; FOR THIS REASON HE WANTED TO BE A PIONEER FOR CHANGE, AND ATAJ IS THE VEHICLE THAT HE CHOSE.
